A 45-seat dining room behind green drapery

The Joyce is an American steakhouse at 448 Española Way in Miami Beach. Spicy Hospitality Group runs it, and Chef James C. Taylor leads the kitchen. The dining room seats 45 guests behind dark green drapery and custom walnut millwork. Rotating art fills the walls like a private gallery.

The entrance is easy to miss. Time Out Miami described a tiny door off Española Way and a manager who walks guests through to the room. Inside, oxblood leather banquettes face a curved, stone-topped bar. Glass racks and globe lights hang above the counter. The small room keeps the noise down and the service close.

Andre Sakhai, Marc Lotenberg and Matt Herfield founded the group in Miami. Sakhai is an art collector. The restaurant describes its art as a collection spanning historic works and contemporary icons.

Aged steaks, shrimp scampi and the Joyce Cheeseburger

The Joyce serves classic American steakhouse cooking with aged steaks, seafood and housemade pastas. Chops anchor the dining-room menu. The list includes a 16-ounce Chicago-cut ribeye and a 14-ounce New York strip from Margaret River. Two wagyu filets come from Stone Axe in Australia and from Hyogo in Japan. Pop’s Mignon pairs crispy A5 Kobe with a sweet chile umami sauce. Sauce au poivre and Ossetra caviar butter come as add-ons.

Starters lean rich. Crispy latkes arrive with Ossetra caviar and traditional garnishes. Sautéed shrimp scampi comes with garlic toast for the butter sauce. Creamed kale gets a Saint André mornay and house potato chips. For something lighter, try the hamachi crudo with hatch chile and lime.

The Joyce Cheeseburger stacks two griddled patties with Joyce sauce, onions and pickles on brioche. Shanghai Firecracker Chicken uses sweet, fried and dried chiles. A family-style chicken Parmesan comes with tagliolini pomodoro. Sour orange pie, an orange custard on a vanilla cookie crust, makes a tart finish.

Taylor graduated from Le Cordon Bleu Chicago and cooked in Michelin-starred Chicago kitchens. He moved to Miami in 2021 and built a following as a private chef. The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau names Bavette’s, Roister and Alinea among his past kitchens.

Sunday Chinese at The Palace and the Rabbi’s Choice steaks

On Sundays, The Palace adds a Chinese menu from Chef Taylor. It runs alongside the full menu and the bar program. Expect crab rangoons, General Tso chicken, Kung Pao chicken, lo mein and fried rice. The beef and broccoli uses wagyu ribeye. A combination fried rice mixes chicken, ribeye and Gulf shrimp.

A Rabbi’s Choice section lists a prime kosher ribeye and kosher Kung Pao chicken. Both sit on the regular dining-room menu, not only on Sundays. The bar also mixes two spirit-free drinks, Verdant Whisper and Blush & Flame. Share allergies with your server before you order.

A 510-selection wine list and the cocktail bar

Wine is a major reason to book. Wine Spectator gave The Joyce its Best of Award of Excellence in 2026. That listing counts 510 selections and 1,200 bottles in the cellar. Burgundy, wider France and California form the core. Andrew Herron directs the wine program, and Michael Scribner serves as sommelier. The restaurant also holds a Star Wine List Gold Star for the best medium-sized wine list in Florida.

Cocktails take a playful turn. The Clarified Lassi mixes Sipsmith gin, absinthe and lychee. The Magic City Margarita blends coconut mezcal with guava and smoked chili salt. The Chef Smash is a slightly dirty vodka martini over crushed ice with three olives. Without a booking, The Infatuation suggests trying your luck at the bar seats.

Dorsia tables, the dress code and the 20% service charge

The dining room serves dinner Wednesday through Sunday from 6:30 PM. It closes at 9 PM on Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, and at 10:30 PM on Friday and Saturday.

Dorsia holds the prime-time dining-room reservations, and SevenRooms handles the other times. Both links sit on the reservations page. Email reservations@thejoycerestaurant.com for parties of six or more. The same address takes special requests.

Prime-time slots stay exclusive to Dorsia. Other guests usually land the earlier or later seatings through SevenRooms.

The Joyce keeps a classic steakhouse dress code with no shorts, hats or flip-flops. Leave the beach clothes for the patio next door.

A 20% service charge applies to every check. The menus state that it supports operations and the team. Read the bill before you add any extra tip.

Wine Spectator’s 2026 listing puts a typical two-course meal here at $66 or more, before tip and drinks. The online dining-room menus show no item prices. Ask about steak and caviar prices before you order. The same listing shows a $60 corkage fee.

Burgers, milkshakes and Miami Spice on The Patio

The Patio at The Joyce is the casual, open-air side of the restaurant. It serves lunch and dinner Wednesday through Sunday, from 1 PM to 9 PM. Book a patio table on Resy or OpenTable.

The patio menu covers the Joyce Cheeseburger, a crispy snapper crunchwrap and crispy wings. Chopped salads, milkshakes and an A&W root beer float round it out. The Patio Smash mixes bourbon, lemon and fresh mint. Tal’s Express pairs Aperol with prosecco and orange.

The patio also runs Miami Spice menus. As of October 2026, lunch costs $40, dinner costs $65 and the Reserve menu costs $95. Lunch runs from 1 to 5 PM, and the dinner menus run from 5 to 9 PM. The tourism bureau extended Miami Spice through October. Each menu covers three courses, without drinks, tax or tip.

Private dinners, full buyouts and accessibility

The Joyce hosts private events in its art-filled room. Options range from celebration dinners and corporate gatherings to a full takeover. Chef Taylor builds the menu for each event. An online form asks for the date, start time, end time and company.

The bureau’s listing gives a private-room capacity of 50 and total seating for 75. The restaurant self-reports accessible restrooms and wheelchair-friendly inside walkways. It also offers large-print menus. Call ahead to confirm the route from the street to your table.
