Front Porch Cafe has operated on Ocean Drive since 1989. That’s rare on a strip better known for turnover than tenure. It sits at 918 Ocean Drive, directly across from Lummus Park and the beach. It runs one continuous schedule seven days a week, rather than a seasonal or weekend-only one.

After more than thirty-five years on Ocean Drive, it functions as a working neighbourhood restaurant. It just happens to sit on one of the most photographed blocks in Florida. That has a practical upside and a practical downside. The Ocean Drive location also draws heavy walk-up traffic.

All-Day Breakfast, With a 6 PM Cutoff

The breakfast menu runs from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. That’s genuinely most of the day, but not the whole day. That cutoff is the single most useful thing to know before planning a visit. Within that window the range is wide. Omelettes and scrambles come built Front Porch style, with mixed greens, ham, bacon and cheese, or Mediterranean, with tomato, pickled onion, spinach, feta, olives and avocado. There’s also a Philly cheesesteak omelette with churrasco and caramelised onions. The Miami comes made with smoked salmon, mushrooms, tomato, spinach and feta, with avocado on the side.

Beyond omelettes there are three eggs any style, and huevos rancheros over crispy tortillas with black bean puree and rancheros sauce. Other options include a beach breakfast sandwich, corned beef hash, breakfast tacos, a breakfast burrito, and a Cuban breakfast.

What a Meal Actually Costs

Breakfast is not cheap, and it is better to know that in advance than to discover it at the table. Omelettes run $19 to $24 depending on the filling. Three eggs any style is $17, and huevos rancheros runs $18. The beach breakfast sandwich costs $19, corned beef hash and breakfast tacos $20 each, the breakfast burrito $21, and the Cuban breakfast $25. Add-ons such as bacon, smoked salmon and avocado are priced separately. The lunch and dinner menu costs more. The lobster roll is $32.

The Patio and the Ocean Drive Position

Seating is centred on an outdoor patio shaded by parasols, set back from the sidewalk. Clear sightlines run across Ocean Drive to Lummus Park and the sand beyond. The outdoor-first layout is the main draw for first-time visitors. The restaurant recommends reserving ahead. The restaurant’s website does not list parking, so check street and garage options before you go.

Reservations, Delivery, Events, and Catering

The restaurant takes table reservations through its own site and is listed on OpenTable. For eating off-site, delivery runs through DoorDash covering the same menu. Beyond regular service, the restaurant offers private event space and catering packages for birthdays, holidays, corporate events and weddings. A group booking here is a normal request, not an exception. Its sister venue, Events on Locust, also hosts events.

Who It Suits

Front Porch Cafe suits a long, unhurried breakfast or brunch with a view of the sand. It also suits a group that wants a wide menu everyone can order from, and anyone who wants a table on Ocean Drive without committing to a hotel dining room. It suits less well anyone in a hurry at peak hours, or anyone looking for a budget breakfast. The same goes for anyone hoping for eggs after 6:00 PM. For a quieter morning, the restaurants a block or two inland from Ocean Drive generally move faster and cost less.
