Brother’s Keeper Miami Beach is a neon-lit cocktail bar at 1710 Alton Road, just north of 17th Street. The room mixes dive-bar attitude with serious martinis. Here is what the official site and recent coverage say you will find inside.

A 1980s Miami Vice room with a 25-foot aquarium

The bar takes its name from the first episode of Miami Vice. The design borrows from New York City in the 1980s and its link to Miami. Eater Miami describes glass blocks, disco balls and purple neon in a 1,335-square-foot space.

The centerpiece is a 25-foot wraparound saltwater aquarium behind the bar. A cushioned bar rail runs along the front. A pool table sits in the back under the brightest light in the room. Most of the space stays dim and moody.

The vibe sits between a neighborhood dive and a cocktail lounge. The Infatuation calls it a great bar with snacks rather than a restaurant. You can still build a full meal from the kitchen.

Martinis, modern twists and the Bread Service Martini

Martinis lead the drinks menu. The current menu has five martinis at $19 each. The Bread Service Martini blends vodka, gin, dry vermouth, sea salt, olive oil and house brine. Bar staff pair it with a croissant on the side, a detail Miami New Times singles out.

The rest of the martini list covers different moods:

  • The Pepperoncini Gibson adds pickled pepperoncini and onion.
  • The Filthy Cherry & Almond Manhattan mixes rye, port and sweet vermouth.
  • The Vieux Carre pairs calvados with Irish American whiskey.
  • The Lemon Drop Martini No. 2 uses citrus-infused gin or vodka, and the bar will sugar the rim on request.

Modern twists at $15

The Modern Twists section costs less. Each drink runs $15 at the time of checking. The list includes the Mezcal Bijou, the Good Ole’ Spicy Marg with chili and cilantro, and the Apricot & Strawberry Junglebird. A B.K. Negroni with mezcal rounds it out.

Half-off happy hour from 5 to 7 PM

Happy hour runs every day from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The bar advertises half off drinks during that window. A specials link on the homepage has the details.

Check the current specials before you go, since menu prices and promotions change. For other options nearby, compare the picks in our Miami Beach happy hour guide.

Pan pizza, wings and bar food that holds up

The kitchen serves casual bar food under three headings: small shares, pan pizza and larger bites. Small shares range from $9 fries to $19 tuna poke nachos with wonton chips and grilled pineapple. The BK Wings cost $15 and come with kimchi honey and crispy shallots.

Pan pizzas come as classic cheese for $15 or curly pepperoni for $18. Hot honey adds $1. The Cheeseburger in Paradise costs $18. The Crispy Chicken Sandwich costs $16 with hot honey, pickles and slaw.

Other items include mozzarella sticks, hatch chili queso, bang bang shrimp and a Sloppy Jose with Cuban picadillo. One dessert, donut holes with dulce de leche, costs $9.

The Sunday steak frites special

The menu lists a Sunday special. It pairs a 7-ounce hanger steak in au poivre sauce with skinny fries and a glass of red wine for $29. The regular steak frites costs $35 without the wine.

Beer, wine, frozen drinks and zero-proof options

Beer stays cheap by Miami Beach standards. Rolling Rock costs $7. Local pours such as Megamix pale ale and Prison Pals blonde ale cost $9. The Rite of Passage pairs a beer with a shot of malört for $16.

Two Athletic Brewing non-alcoholic beers cost $8 each. The zero-proof cocktails cost $12. They include the Monday Negroni and Another Spritz.

Wine comes by the glass for $13 to $16, with Verdejo, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and a Provence rosé-style Syrah blend. Frozen drinks cost $14, including a Mai Tai and a Piña Colada. Add a Miami Vice swirl for $2.

Darts, pool and buyouts for up to 70 guests

A dart board and a pool table give groups something to do between rounds. The bar also hosts celebrations on regular days. The venue’s homepage says full buyouts can accommodate up to 70 guests.

Groups and private events book through the group and party inquiry form on the bar’s website. The group and party page runs on a Tripleseat form. Send your date, headcount and plans there instead of calling the bar line during service.

Recognition and the team behind the bar

Brother’s Keeper opened in June 2024. Eater reports that Lost Boy & Co. founders Chris Hudnall and Randy Alonso built it with chef Josh Elliott and Ellie Groden of QP. The pairing explains why the bar program and kitchen both get attention.

Miami New Times named it Best Bar in Miami Beach in its 2025 Best of Miami awards. The Infatuation praises the 1980s rock soundtrack, mirrors and neon. Those details match what the official photos show.
